Scroll for five minutes and you will find someone launching something, landing something, celebrating something, announcing something.
And somewhere in your chest, something tightens.
Not because their win is wrong. But because a quiet voice whispers: should I be doing that too?
That is FOMO. And it is one of the most effective distractions you will ever encounter — not because it is loud, but because it feels reasonable. It disguises itself as ambition, as awareness, as staying current. It pulls you away from what is already yours. From the work you are already in the middle of. From the path that was built around your values, your strengths, your season of life.
Not theirs.

What FOMO Is Really Showing You
Here is something worth sitting with.
The version of someone else's life that triggers your FOMO is not even real. It is a moment. A caption. A carefully chosen angle on a much more complicated story. And you are comparing your entire interior world to their exterior presentation.
That is not a fair comparison.
You are not missing out on anything; FOMO & alignment for women is within reach.
Underneath the comparison is something worth getting curious about — because FOMO is rarely about the thing you think you are missing. It is almost always a symptom of something quieter. A place where you have not yet fully trusted yourself. A part of your own path you have not fully claimed. A voice inside you that has not yet been given enough room to speak.
FOMO does not show you what you are missing. It shows you what you have not yet learned to fully trust.
What if the scroll that triggers you is actually pointing you back inward? What if the twinge of FOMO is not evidence that you are behind, but an invitation to get more aligned with what is actually true for you?
You were not made to live someone else's highlight reel. You were made to live your own story, fully and without apology.
When FOMO Gets in the Driver's Seat
When FOMO is running the show, decisions get muddy.
You sign up for the thing because everyone else is. You pivot because someone in your space just did. You second-guess the plan you were clear on last week because a new option appeared and now the doubt is back.
And underneath all of it is a question you stopped asking: does this actually align with where I am going?
Alignment is not a soft concept. It is a strategic one. The women who create the most meaningful progress are not the ones doing the most things. They are the ones who have gotten ruthlessly honest about what belongs on their path and what is just noise dressed up as opportunity.
Before you add anything. Before you sign up for anything. Before you pivot toward anything — ask yourself: Does this belong to me, or does it just look good from where I am standing?
One honest answer to that question is worth more than ten new strategies.
The Habit Behind the Feeling
FOMO is not just a feeling. It is a pattern. And like all patterns, it runs on habits.
The habit of checking what everyone else is doing before you have checked in with yourself. The habit of measuring your progress against someone else's public timeline. The habit of treating your own inner knowing as less reliable than the opinions, launches, and announcements showing up in your feed.
Those habits have a cost. And the cost is clarity about who you actually are.
The replacement does not have to be complicated. Maybe it is five minutes of stillness before you open anything. Maybe it is writing one true thing about where you are before you look at where anyone else is. Maybe it is a single question you ask yourself before every decision: Is this mine, or am I borrowing someone else's vision for my life?
Something small enough to actually do. Something that turns you back toward yourself instead of away.
Coming Back to What Is Yours
You are not behind.
You are not missing out. You are not less than the woman whose launch you watched, whose milestone you saw, whose highlight made that quiet voice in your chest whisper what about me?
You are on your own path. And your path has its own timing, its own shape, its own definition of success. No feed can show you that. No announcement can give it to you. It lives inside you, and it always has.
The most important work you can do this week is not the next strategy or the next sign-up. It is coming back to yourself. Trusting what is already yours. Choosing alignment over distraction — and doing it again, and again, and again.
Reflect
Take a few minutes with one of these questions:
Where has FOMO been quietly pulling your attention lately — and what is it pulling you away from that is actually yours?
What is one thing about your own path, your own work, your own life, that you have not been giving enough credit to?
What is something on your plate right now that you took on because of FOMO rather than genuine alignment — and what would it feel like to release it?
There are no wrong answers here. The point is simply to turn inward instead of outward, even for a few minutes. That small act is where real clarity begins.

This post grew out of a week of daily prompts inside the G3 Collective — a free community for women who are done letting doubt and comparison run the show.
Every week inside the G3 Collective, we work through themes like this one together: Monday clarity, daily affirmations, honest conversations about what is actually in the way — and Friday celebrations for the women who showed up anyway.
If this resonated, you belong in the room.
